The Journal, as the official publication of the Department of Ancient World Studies at Sapienza – University of Rome, brings together thematically grouped research results aimed at an integrated study of ancient societies in all their aspects – environmental, technological, economic, social, political, artistic, and ideological – viewed as interacting elements within systems characterized by specific dynamics of transformation.
The studies it publishes are based on various types of documentary material – archaeological, philological-epigraphic, ecological-naturalistic, etc. – and are carried out using equally diverse methodologies and analytical techniques, with the goal of fostering convergence and broader mutual interaction among disciplines.
Its chronological and geographical scope ranges from prehistory to late antiquity, although particular attention is given to the periods from the Neolithic processes in the Near East and Europe through to the Greek and Roman worlds.

Scienze dell’Antichità is a Class A Journal (according to the ANVUR classification) and follows a double-blind peer-review process.
